Its with great sadness that I am going to leave this fine forum. I give no excuses for bringing embarrassment to friends. I personally take the entire blame for the stunt that I pulled which has caused repercussions and which I had never foreseen or intended. I definitely didn't want to harm anyone of my comrades. Next time when the discussion of a pro athlete doing drugs, a politician taking money or being unfaithful just remember even a joke can become out of hand and make a whole in a tapestry.

I'm sorry Mike but IMHO you are making WAY more out of this than you need to. You've explained yourself and I'm sure you're making amends off-forum to those whose feelings are hurt. Step back and look at the big picture for a moment. In the grand scheme of things, what happened over there was a hiccup. Forums, in general, are merely entertainment and a way to connect with others with similar interests. Are you no longer interested in cycling? If that's it then, you're right, you should bow out. But to swear off forums that still bring you some level of enjoyment and to which you can contribute, either through knowledge or humor (and particularly this forum, Mike) is counter-productive and an overreaction. Relax. Take a deep breath. Take a break. But don't say goodbye yet.

Hey Meg - didn't see the post - just saw the good-bye - but don't go...sleep on it and rethink it. I am sure it will be fine.

What's up with this?
Meg, I agree with NW. You made a mistake and you've owned up to it. You are making amends. No need to to run.

So sorry that it has been decided that you have to leave. Thank you so much for all the passion & energy that you've so generously given to this forum over the years. There's no getting around the fact that not having you here is a tremendous loss for all of us. Through thick & thin, always proud to have you as a friend.

Meg, my husband f*#ks up all the time, I still let him live here!
Well...I just figured out what this was about. I trolled the Pedal-On threads and there you ended up on some thread about power based training which became some sort of identity crisis. Buddy...you can't win there. Self titled experts and decorum controllers are there to act as some sort of IDC gurus. You attempting to provoke them is like the kids who try to provoke the certain kinds of animals at the zoo. You throw peanuts...they throw back better.
My advice is to leave the secret identities to super heroes. Definitely take a break from that forum and let them ask and answer their own clientele. There are folks selling tee shirts, and books and training things, and other stuff and that's fine. Don't interrupt that. If I decided to ignore that place out of respect to getting you (and 2 or 3 other friends) censored there, WTF are you doing back there...and getting censored there again under a pseudonym? And by a hack? Go apologize to whoever you need to apologize to and that's up to them to say OK or whatever. You did something silly to some people you know in realtime. I think something more than self banishment is a better choice. You don't get off that easy.
That said, if you dump out here, you'll piss me off. So...take a break. See you in a few days. I'm not taking you off my speed dial.

To be clear (and to be fair), no one was asked to leave this forum. That was Mike's decision and Mike, I certainly hope you reconsider. What was suggested was that Mike consider stepping down as an administrator and make the decision on his own. It was a difficult suggestion to make; Mike has been an incredible contributor and administrator on this forum and that will never be denied. That being said, I do hope, Megs, that you continue to be a contributor to this forum.
It's been a rough couple of days for many people.
I never saw any indication of Megs being asked to leave Innercycling. It would be a good decision for him to leave the other ones.
Or find a better alter-ego.

I was responding to Matt's post when he says, "So sorry that is has been decided that you have to leave." No one decided that but Mike. And I hope he reconsiders.

I will take some time off. I will have to look at the bright side and dig that I do not have to stop all the crazy spammers anymore. You know how much of those digs hit my email?
I give you credit. Usually if I take a false identity, it's a better looking guy.
I never thought a hot woman was a route I'd take when going for mischief.

Last thought on that.
If I were a girl just for a day. I would roll out of bed and put on what I wanted and go.... Drink beer with the girls....
Set to the song of Beyonce' If I were a boy
If you were Beyonce....well I don't need to complete the rest of this.:)
You do sound like a biker in need of a nice long ride in some fresh air. Take 2 of those and call us in the morning.

To err is human and to forgive is divine. Hope that Mike's leave of absence here will be just a very temporary one.

I think it's Chicago that sings that, Joy. And I believe Megs will be back. He loves us just as much as we love him. That will never change.

Foamy here Megs, what the hell is going on? I have been away and not happy to hear this! Honestly, on any given day and post, someone can piss someone off...it's a given. Someone please email or FB me what the heck is going on...thanks.
Problem starts here.

I check into and read it. Mike goes a little nutty. Maybe more than a little.
Then I troll a little more and post:

And some guy named Bill Pierce is also angry at Mike and me too!! Touchy lad.
BTW...I really think classes without music is a bad idea.

Actually, the saga ends where AC says it begins, not that it's necessary to dredge it all up here. What happens on the other forum should stay on the other forum, and vice versa.
Mike,
Take a break, rest, recharge and come back better than ever. This place needs people like you.

Just when you think forum world is dull.
Don't feel inclined to check out what the Independant Voicers are up to but, just this week, on an internet forum devoted to knitters and crochets, a bitch fight broke out.......I jest not.
We'd decided to all knit or crochet a few squares to make into an afghan to present to someone (unknown to me) whose husband had just died. His fave colours were blue and white so we collectively decided it'd be a nice gesture to aim for that colour spectrum.
No big deal, right?
Wrong.
Apparently a couple of chicks on there had an issue with either the fact that it wasn't going to be a personal choice thing or because they didn't like blue or I don't know what......they're sisters so maybe there's some genetic weirdness at play. Well, you wouldn't believe the backbiting with folk refusing to participate etc.
I was a bit late to the "party" (a bit like this thread) as I'm painting up a storm and don't have to much time on my hands so I'm sitting there reading this twaddle and wondering is it me who's been sniffing too many VOCs or is it them.
I put up a post observing that this looked to me like a very embarrassing way for big girls to behave....especially in the context of a bereavement.....and they had my post removed Take THAT!!
Ya couldn't make this $hit up if you tried.
Should I open a few more windows while I paint???

LMAO!!! Leave the windows where they are. In fact, can I come over?
Thanks for starting my morning off with a good laugh.

LOL, Vivienne.
I've a friend working on her doctorate in communications. Her focus is on internet communities. She says that the usual shelf-life of a group is around 2 years before they implode and participants go through a wholesale change.
I was once on a diet/fitness forum and you would not believe the fight that broke out over the use of the words "healthy" and "healthful." It went on for days!
Mr. P is on photography sites and says those photographers are downright vicious. Who'da thunk?

Makes me want to seek out sites where bell-ringers or stamp collectors hang out and see what they're up to.
Perhaps the least controversial the subject, the greater the animosity it can generate.

I can tell you a sports team forum is very vicious. If you don't have thick skin, don't participate in the Jets Insider forum. And I pay for access!!
But, I love the passion of a group of guys who like to suffer for 40+ years of futility with me. Ages 17 to 70. We all know how to run a professional sports team!! All we are missing is a billion dollars and actual expertise.
The best example of what a forum should be is like the Jim Rome sports call in show. The mantra is "Have a take, don't suck".
I would not have imagined that knitters would get that rowdy. I have new respect for them!!

Jim is a demi god! He was just here not to long ago though I had to miss him. MAt was like "Dude you should go" I was like "can't got to roll this way" But as forums go there are good typist and bad typist and then there are the ones that can create conjecture with a single remark. Don't you think that the nicest forum in the world would be a Yoga forum? NOT!!!!

Totally but Jim has a face for radio. Mat has a great video of Jim getting used to wipe up the set of his show when he called Chris Everett "Chrissy Everett". I think Collin is from our local new show. Am I thinking of the guy that does the "herd"?

Jim Rome's wife, Janet, was a high school classmate of mine. Rome started out doing a local sports talk show on legendary San Diego radio station XTRA 690 (The Mighty 690) in the early '90s and started syndicating his show nationally to other radio markets about 5 or 6 years later. He can now be heard in virtually every market in the USA as well as in Canada.
Colin Cowherd used to be on both local Portland tv & radio. I think Rome's show is the much funnier & entertaining one of the two.
