This is becoming all too common on the roads I train on. I'm starting to think that Ohio will soon lead the nation in cyclist fatalities.
The roads in this small community are relatively lightly travelled and ideal for those long rides. I'm curious to hear what actually happened here.

There was one in Philly this weekend also.

I'm so very sorry to hear of both tragedies. My heart goes out to the family and friends of the deceased. Any loss is one loss too many.

I am hearing of more and more crashes lately- you have to be so careful out there- but most of the time there is nothing you could do to prevent it. My friend and I had a close call recently because of a driver on her cell phone. My husband's friend was in bad shape- but crashed in the last mile of a long ride with the group- no car involved. I am so sorry to hear of this loss-.

It sure is a different kind of war isn't it? Pick your roads wisely. Do a google earth and street view of the routes you will take. Stay off any road where the MPH is over 35 (still fast) and try to stay to the ones that offer bike lanes or entrances to trails. Sounds like he was on a weekend ride and not a commute.
