February CD Tree

With all the talk about music on this Forum lately it might be time to start a February CD Tree. I'll run it, but need some advice on "how". We can just send out music that moves us from different genres, sans Profiles OR we can do it anyway everyone sees fit.
Warning: I know nothing about MP3 files and how to use them. I like to keep it Simple!!!!!

You are in charge, so go ahead and pick A Mardi Gras (whatever that is), Valentines, or St Patricks Day theme tree??

Do you want one profile and one audio CD? Or a music dump on a CD? Do you want focus or just volumes of tunes?

Single type of music per person or a mixed type of music?

Then--

All you have to do is manage the list to about 10 people (usually the first 10 or 12), collect the names and addys via PM and e-mail them out. I can help if you want--or you can do it.

OK...no prob. sounds simple.

Pipe up if you are interested, I know some of you just finished a CD Tree so we'll see.

What I would want on the CDs is music that "moves" you. Your "go to" songs, faves, ones that YOU notice get your classes motivated.

No Profile necessary, what we could do is just indicate that "I love to climb to this song" or "Sprints are awesome with this song, etc." Keeping it as simple as possible.

Sound good?

Just to iterate....

Just fill your 70 or 80 minute CD with music that moves you or your classes or your go-to songs that always get a reaction.

I think sending a Profile is sorta useless...I was in a CD Tree once before with Profiles included and while I used the music and it was great...I didn't use the Profiles.

Can't wait and do have a few responses. Once we get btw 10 and 15 it's a go. Maybe we'll close out the option by February 4th. Enough time, right?

That is EXACTLY what I am looking for.

As far as subsequent CD Trees....we're constantly evolving and while you might not be ready to join in the "March" CD Tree, come Spring/Summer I GUARANTEE your muisc collection will have grown and evolved. Esp. after that trip to Virgin with AC!!!!!!!

Totally your call. Make it fun. I didn't really intend to use ALL the songs I picked, I just threw everything in there that "might" work. I'm gonna download the playlist to my MP3, listen to it and just check off the "musts." If it turns out to be 2 CDs...well.....

Most of us are used to the old WMA or WAV formats that we use in class which limits us to 15-18 songs per cd.

If you have a bunch of songs that are already in MP3 Format (look under the column "Kind" in iTunes as you scroll across the row of the song you select: it will say either MPEG Audio File (which means it's an MP3 file), AAC Audio File, or Protected AAC Audio File (if you bought it from iTunes). Converting protected files to MP3 (or MPEG Audio Files) is for another lesson.

So, to continue, let's say you have a bunch of MPEG Audio Files in your music library. If you want to burn them to a CD as MP3 files, go to the iTunes "PREFERENCES" then to "ADVANCED." Where it says, "Disc Format," change it from Audio CD to MP3 CD. You will see the little icon button on your iTunes screen (lower right corner by the icon that looks like an eye) change from saying "Burn Disc" to "Burn MP3 CD." This will allow you to fit many more songs on your CD. I hope that helps a little. It can be overwhelming at first, I know!

Yeah, I think we'll close it out on Monday even though we haven't had any sign-ups in a few days. We have about 10 people so, that's cool. We started this thing just when everybody was getting out of one. Since it is the first time I'm "running" one m/b that's cool.

Well bah! I was running a test burn and realized a dozen or so of the songs were purchased through iTunes and can't be burned to MP3. I knew I should have paid closer attention to Lori's post from the other day. Hmm...if I can't figure out how to get them onto the same disc, maybe I'll leave them for a future CD Tree.

Hey guys just wanted to touch base with my fellow Feb. CD Tree Huggers and whine a little (lol).

I have to apologize for not getting my CDs out as yet. I turned 45 and things have been going downhill from there.

First ON my birthday I find out that oops, my program is relocating (probably by the summer) and if I don't want to add 3 hours to my day every day commuting, then it's time to get the resume together. On the bright side, I was NOT supposed to find out about this till later and consider the pre-warning a gift.

After that, fortunately, I went to ECA. I thought with the bad news I would have a carppy time but instead it turned into a lovely escape. Again, on the plus side.

After ECA I end up with some sort of nasty infection in (they think) my salivary gland. I can't tell you how painful this is and for me to be hitting the Darvocet it has to be bad so I have been walking around in a fog (and hit my car on a beam in the Dr's. parking lot last night). I called the dr. this morning and he may be sending me to see a head/neck specialist (never heard of such a thing) today.

My BF convinced me to stay home from work 2day, so short of going to the Dr and the Body Shop, I am going to sit, relax and start burning these CDs. I told him I'm not going to use the day off to make myself nuts trying to get things done. Just relaxing.....

Just so you all know I'm not flaky.

I've received some of the CDs (thank you) but have yet to listen...ugh.

Deb - please feel better. I too am feeling the effects of the weekend and this constant changing weather - hot/cold/ wet/dry. I haven't done mine yet either. Going to attempt to burn them today but they will not get out in the mail until next week I fear. No mail on Monday and I need mailing envelopes (I did stop at Target to get them but then forgot why I was there - DON'T SAY IT!)

I really can't wait to start listening to some of it.

Just spoke to the Dr. and we're giving the antibiotics till Monday to work, otherwise we have to "delve" a little deeper. So keep your fingers crossed.

It's not that I don't feel well, it's just painful and that just sucks the life out of you!!!!!

I'm still trying to build a fan-base there and it definitely is coming along. I've gotten alot of Court personnel to come as well, so it is so much fun for me. As you know, they run a tight ship and it's a small place with not much room for expansion (in re adding classes) so while still being low-man on the totem pole I didn't get a shot at the Saturday guest appearances. Oh, well....

If you just want to drop off the CDs, I'll package and send them and let you know how much it was. Really, it's no prob. I can do it right from work.

Hey John...thanks for asking...glad to hear you are feeling better..

FINALLY got to see the "specialist" today and hope that I am NOW on the correct medication. Between the antibiotics and the Darvocet, I've been a walking zombie.

Going back to "work" tomorrow and putting Joy and my CDs in the mail. I've had a chance to listen to some of what I've gotten and so far...great stuff.

This has been fun!!!!

I am glad you re enjoying the songs - I have already forgotten what I put on the CD.

I love opening my mail and finding envelopes with CDs...It's a party every day. I am going to burn you a copy of a cd I played today use it at night at LA if you want. They loved it this am (so not what I would have played..)

Everyone should receive their CDs from Joy and I either today or at the very latest 2morrow.

I am finding most of the music VERY usable so I've been busy ripping and downloading.

Home sick AGAIN today but am gonna use some of my new "findings" and put it to Patrick's latest Giro ride!!!!!

Will keep me out of trouble for the day...besides IT'S SNOWING!!!!!!

Hey everybody...

Just wanted to thank everybody for the awesome music I am receiving. I haven't gotten thru everything yet but I am thrilled. I am getting to them in reverse order so those of you who sent them early on...I didn't listen yet.

In re Rich...When I opened his envelope, I found something that looks like a playlist. I left it in the car...after lunch I'll bring it up and type it up. I haven't heard from him in re my e-mail. I think he has computer issues.

At this point I've received all CDs except one. Are we all on the same page or did I just not get one?
